Spotlight: upcoming UAS Cluster Initiative Events and related activities

The House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology will hold a hearing titled Advanced Air Mobility: The Future of Unmanned Aircraft Systems and Beyond.
On March 23, 2023 at 10:00 am ET


The purpose of the hearing is to examine the status and outlook for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and advanced air mobility (AAM) as well as serve as a legislative hearing for the National Drone and Advanced Air Mobility Act. The hearing will examine the impact of UAS and AAM research and development (R&D) and identify priority areas for next-generation R&D to ensure supply chain integrity and facilitate safe integration in the National Airspace System (NAS). The hearing will also exploreways to enhance domestic competitiveness and ensure United States leadership in UAS and AAM.

Notable are the Oklahoma influences with the Committee Chair Frank Lucas from Oklahoma presiding over this hearing which includes 2 of 4 witnesses from the state of Oklahoma.

Lab to Business Showcase featuring OSU research
April 19th at 1pm CT


For serial entrepreneurs, new entrepreneurs or existing businesses looking for your next UAS or AAM opportunity, UASCI has scheduled the next Lab to Business Showcase a program of curated technology opportunities Oklahoma State University.

This is a free online event which is scheduled for Wednesday, April 19th, 2023 at 1:00 pm CT.

    Opportunities to be presented are:
  1. A rover/wheel mechanism that enables a flying spherical vehicle to transform into a ground maneuverable vehicle, able to navigate on and over surfaces or even roll up stairs. Presented by inventor Dr Ben Loh.
  2. Coaxial motor-powered designs to focus on a simplification of prop design and weight reduction improvements that can relate to improvements in propulsion and flight control. Presented by inventor Dr Ben Loh.
  3. Victoria Natalie and Amanda Aker will discuss participating in technology development and transfer opportunities when using academic resources. They will also provide a description of the newly formed Oklahoma Aerospace Institute of Research and Education (OAIRE) and the influence it will have in the regional aerospace ecosystem.
