Spotlight: UASCI Technology Transfer services
Jack James, UASCI Technology Commercialization Consultant

"No matter who you are, most of the smartest people work for someone else," Bill Joy, founder Sun Microsystems. Also known as Joy's Law.

UASCI is implementing a technology transfer service to support UAS and Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) industry development in Oklahoma. Every year the federal government conducts or sponsors research and technology development in over 300 federal laboratories and thousands of universities. The strength of this R&D effort has driven much of the US economy for the past 60 years. One of UASCI's objectives is to leverage this vast resource and present UAS/AAM commercial opportunities to entrepreneurs and businesses.

To accomplish this, UASCI will use established criteria to identify technologies that have the commercial potential emphasizing UAS and AAM vehicle systems, battery, sensor and operational technologies. We will coordinate with the applicable research lab and inventor to produce live, online presentations on the subject technologies. UASCI is planning 3 events each with 3 technology presentations.

"It's better to create an ecology that gets all the world's smartest people toiling in your garden for your goals." Also, from Bill Joy

For entrepreneurs or companies interested in a technology, the labs offer licensing and partnership opportunities. The strength of the opportunities is not just accessing the specific technology but also building research relationships to access ongoing research and knowledge in that subject.

Watch for further announcements on this service and expect that the first presentations sometime in April. For now, if you have ideas on specific problem or technology need related to UAS or AAM that you would like to see covered, please send an email to Jack James at jjames@dcnteam.com.
