Capturing drones in-flight
Air Force Research Laboratory - Information Directorate
UASs, (unmanned aerial systems, or drones) for ground, sea, and air applications present an unprecedented opportunity as delivery platforms for improvised threats including explosive, chemical, radiological, biological, and electronic warfare devices. Further, we have seen recent incidents of drones flying in restricted airspace, disrupting commercial air traffic, and accounts of these devices covertly spying on civilians. While a knee-jerk reaction to these illegal uses may be to "knock them out of the sky" such action can be very dangerous. In some cases, destroying vehicles carrying weapon payloads may aid in the dispersal of the dangerous payload over a populated area. Regardless of payload, shooting down a drone creates the potential for collateral ground damage. The Air Force has extensive experience with UASs both in their utilization and in disabling those operated by the enemy. From that expertise comes this novel technology to capture drones in use (while flying, driving along the ground, or operating at sea).

The U.S. is building a massive, $110 million drone base in the Sahara

Private wireless networks are quietly becoming a thing
Fierce Wireless | 04/25/2018
For years now, a number of wireless players have been promising that there is demand among enterprises and others for private wireless networks. The argument is that utilities, cities, manufacturing companies and others have specific applications that can't or shouldn't run over public wireless networks, and so they will need to build their own networks—and will spend money to do it.
